This plank shield´s striking feature is its strong steel braces with, in the center a clear representation of Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent viewed as the ultimate symbol of fate's inevitability in Norse mythology. Viking warriors would demonstrate with this icon their will to go to battle and accept whatever fate the gods are in store for them.
The shield is made out of 15mm thick birch wood, with a steel hand-hammered umbo at the center. It comes with a wood handlebar installed on the back. It can be used as a decorative wall hanger or as a functional piece for medieval reenactment or LARP.

This is a great piece of equipment. The shield has a handle and the front of the shield is beautiful. The only issue I have is that on the picture it shows that on the back side it has a distinctive plank look, but in person it does not. It is just painted black. Over all a great shield for the renaissance fair
Just like the photos. Bought it for my brothers birthday. Pictures are accurate and it�s a Saturday piece. Don�t use for actual shield though.
This is a very sturdy shield, made with pretty thick wood. The edge trim, and center bulb are made from some kind of plastic, and it is quite heavy. Even so it feels like it could take an axe strike (I wouldn�t recommend testing that though). Very solid addition to any costume or cosplay ????
I bought this for the kiddo and he loves it. That's all I need.
My husband loves all things viking. We have it on the wall of the basement, and it looks really great. Will definitely buy more from this seller!

The shield looks exactly as advertised and is not too heavy while being very durable. It feels good in the hands and would make a perfect display piece or costume accessory. 10/10 would buy again.

My son absolutely loves this sheild his only conplaint is he cant grab the velcro and it bends when he bends his arm but all in all a great product and good value
